Introduction

AJS Apparel (Pvt.) Ltd was established by Sterling Products Ltd, Hong Kong in September 1992 as a garments manufacturing plant and was registerd as a project of Board Of Investment of Sri Lanka. AJS Apparel (Pvt.) Ltd commencing it's commercial operations in March 1993 with its Sewing Plant located at Rajangana, in Anuradhapura District. It acquired the Ceylon Career Apparel Ltd in 1993 to facilitate operation in the Free Trade Zone, Katunayake. To enhance the business oppertunities in the Sri Lanka. Expansion took place in October 1996 with the acquisition of Watawala operations of Kings International Germents (Pvt.)Ltd by JS Watawala (Pvt.) Ltd, a new company floated by AJS Apparel (Pvt.) Ltd. The group had t's major expansion in 2004 with the formation of SLA and the subsequent restructuring which saw all operations in Sri Lanka coming under the umbrella of Sterling Lanka Apparel (Pvt.) Ltd, which is wholly owned by Sterling Products Ltd, Hong Kong.

Sterling Products Limited was incorporated in Hong Kong in 1957 with the vision to become the most respected and sought-after of children's wear manufacturer by customers and vendors. From one sewing floor in Hong Kong 47 years ago, Sterling Products have expanded its operations globally. With the phasing out of the MFA in 2005, Sterling consolidated apparel manufacturing to one country - Sri Lanka, a technical center in China and a knitted textile mill in Malaysia and virtual manufacturing in Philippines and China and with sourcing offices in four major provinces in China collaborating with numerous factories.
